My Approach to Helping
Hello there! I personally know how scary and overwhelming it can be to recognize you need help and begin the process of finding a therapist for yourself or a loved one (I was inspired to become a counselor after I went through counseling myself when I was in my early 20's). This is why my goal as a therapist is to make you feel comfortable by providing you with a safe, supportive and non-judgmental space where you feel free to speak your truth.
I will encourage you through our therapeutic relationship, to be open and honest in our communication so you can see how working together as a team can help with making you start to feel increasingly better about the issues affecting you, and hopefully see gradual changes towards reaching your goals and leading a happier and more fulfilling life.
The therapy process is unfortunately not quick or painless and it will take some time and effort from you. That is why I always tell people that going to therapy is definitely NOT for the weak! On the contrary, it takes a lot of courage and strength to acknowledge and accept when you need help and decide to face and talk about painful issues. NOBODY has a perfect life, there are always ups and downs that bring difficult challenges that can negatively impact your life. It is only by talking and facing this emotional pain that healing can come. I feel passionate about how helpful therapy can be in providing clients the tools to make positive changes in their lives.
So I applaud you for making this first step and wish you a good experience with the therapist you choose to see!
