My Approach to Helping

Couples often run into challenges enjoying life together. Issues in communication, finances, parenting, sexuality can all get in the way of relationship happiness. Even if you feel this way now, I can help you bring life back into your relationship.

My name is Marcia Hayden, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. For over 20 years, I have helped couples create a better relationship. My passion has been to learn everything I can about what makes relationships successful.

- Learn to communicate in a way where you feel heard and understood
- Learn how to resolve conflict in a safe, productive way
- Improve intimacy and deepen your relationship
- Feel that your partner "gets you"
- Learn each other's love language so you and your partner feel loved

More Info About My Practice

I work with couples who want to bring joy and passion back into their relationship. I teach couples to communicate in a safe and compassionate way. My method of couples therapy is fun and effective. Most couples start to experience a positive change in their relationship within just a few sessions. I offer individual couples therapy, 3-hour VIP sessions, and a 6-hour Couples Bootcamp, "A New Way to Love."

I teach couples how to regulate their emotions to develop a safer, more intimate connection. I believe if everyone became more aware and connected in all of their relationships, the world would be a much better place. Harville Hendrix has said that couples therapy can "heal the world one couple at a time." I want to be part of that healing: one couple, one family, at a time.

I also work with singles and young couples to help them prepare for a committed relationship. You find love and you want it to last. I help them to develop real relationship skills in order to create the life they want together.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

For almost 20 years as a therapist, I have searched to enrich my work with couples in ways that fit with my beliefs about relationships. I enjoy working with couples interested in taking their relationship to a deeper level.

I am a certified Imago Relationship Therapist. Imago teaches couples how to communicate in a very safe way to further develop their relationship. It provides tools for couples who are interested in understanding why they chose each other, and how their relationship can be interpersonally healing for both partners and the family. Imago is filled with a myriad of rich concepts that can make the relationship safer, more fun, and more interesting.

I also have experience with the Gottman method of couples therapy, known for over 20 years of spectacular research on couples. This work has identified specific behaviors that predict relationship success or failure.
