My Approach to Helping
It is hard to be a child or a teenager today. More and more children, teens, and young adults are struggling with anxious thoughts, uncontrolled anger, and depression. I use mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) to help young people to overcome these struggles. MBCT combines ancient wisdom and practices of meditation with modern evidence-based therapy. If you or your child is struggling with debilitating anxiety or panic, feeling stuck or unmotivated, or having uncontrolled bursts of anger you could benefit from these strategies. A new lease on life is right here, right now. Give me a call to help you find some peace today.
More Info About My Practice
Right now I offer individual counseling for children, teens, young adults and parents. I plan to offer group therapy in the future as well.
My Therapy Focus
My focus in therapy is on building a different relationship with our thoughts and feelings. Anger, anxiety, and sadness are a part of life. My approach is not to try and eliminate these things but to engage with them and to transform the suffering that they cause. Rather than the strategies of avoidance or resistance that we often use, I emphasize awareness and kind attention to these often undesirable feelings. Much like a long tunnel, I believe the way out from suffering is to go into it. You can come out of the other end transformed.
