My Approach to Helping
There are many reasons that you may be seeking support: a sense of overwhelm, a life or relational transition, grief, loss, dissatisfaction with your body, eating problems or a disorder, physical pain, fertility issues or perhaps just difficulty feeling as well as you know you can. I treat individuals looking for support in changing their lives; those who know that more is possible or need help navigating a difficult time. Drawing from modalities gathered through 20 years of practice, I provide effective, intuitive, body based therapy for individuals hoping to feel better, and live more whole and healthy lives.
I fuse together several therapeutically oriented modalities that address the whole person - physically, psychologically, energetically, spiritually. My work is about generating positive movement in stuck situations, bringing ease to the process of change, creating space for new possibilities, increasing ease in your body, changing unhealthy physical and emotional patterns.
The work we do together is driven by both what I see would be most helpful for you in the moment as well as what you ask for, need and call from me. This is a collaborative process with both you and I working together towards your greater health and well being.
More Info About My Practice
I first remember feeling inspired to become a therapist after being the recipient of some life-saving help as teen, suffering from an eating disorder, enmeshed in unhealthy personal, familial and social dynamics. In my 20's, while pursuing a successful marketing career, I was beginning to suffer daily aches and pains, was fatigued and continued to struggle to accept my body and feel comfortable in it. In my 30's and 40's, I learned and grew so much in the process of finding partnership, triumphing over age-related fertility issues and ultimately giving birth to my son. My experiences with Hellerwork Structural Integration, yoga, psychotherapy, energetic work and other therapeutic healing modalities have allowed me to live with more ease, balance and peace than I could have imagined possible at one time.
I do what I do, because I want to help others find their way to greater health, wellness and inner peace. It's an inspiring calling. I have been an avid student of therapeutic methods, studying numerous healing techniques over the course of the last 20 years. I also received my Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University in 2009, with the intention of incorporating body-centered and other forms of psychotherapy into my practice. At the moment, psychotherapy, Craniosacral therapy, energetic techniques, Hellerwork Structural Integration, and Focusing technique are the modalities that I draw from most often.
