I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 15 years experience helping those in need. I work with individual's, couples and families of all ages. My specialty is trauma and addiction, which includes, sexual, emotional and domestic violence, as well as traumatic loss. Often survivors of abuse turn to substances to numb their pain including but not limited to; alcohol, drugs, sex, and food. Another common side effect is anxiety, depression, and grief.

The journey towards self-discovery often encompasses a grief cycle, as one learns to change their old thoughts and beliefs to meaningful ones. The grieving process takes time and patience, however my clients find once they've embarked on this journey they would never turn back. They find new strength and inner peace.

My clients are young and old. They have learned improved coping mechanisms to deal with life on life's terms. They often come in broken and afraid and leave feeling empowered.

I take a solution-focused approach, combining the Twelve-Step Recovery Model along with more pragmatic techniques such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Internal Family systems, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. For trauma, I utilize EMDR, TF-CBT for children/adolescents and STAIR with adults.

A strong proponent of my work is done with the Inner Child, which I find to be extremely effective in healing trauma, anxiety, and depression. This is done through the use of mindfulness techniques and guided meditation.

I am a PhD candidate at Yeshiva University's Wurzweiler School of Social Work, where I also graduated with my master's degree in social work. I was the recipient of the National Association of Social Workers Student Award, the New York State Office of Mental Health-Deans Consortium Award and the Wurzweiler School of Social Work Faculty Award.

My Role as a Therapist

My role as a therapist to help clients become empowered, through gaining greater insight and learning improved coping skills. The purpose of therapy is not to remain there for long periods of time, but rather to gain the skills to move forward with one's life.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

There are a few factors that are key to choosing a therapist. First, they need to be knowledgeable in the area you are seeking treatment. Next, do you feel you can work with them?
