My Approach to Helping
I work collaboratively with each individual to help them identify their needs and goals, as well as to identify any obstacles or issues that are getting in their way of leading the most satisfying and meaningful life possible. While my approach to therapy depends a great deal on each individual client and their specific needs, my foundational perspective is holistic and includes an emphasis on neural-biology, attachment and relationships, the body, and how our unique story influences the way we experience life, our view of ourselves, others, and the world around us.
More Info About My Practice
I work with children (ages 8-13), adults, and couples. I have training in Alcohol and Drug Counseling and have worked in both inpatient and outpatient treatment centers. I have been trained to provide EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy and have advanced training in working with trauma of various types. Most of us have experienced some level of trauma in our lives. It could be something as common as an automobile accident, the loss of a job, or the death of a loved one. Many have experienced more profound traumas such as rape, assault, war, or even a childhood history of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. My goal, in working with all of my clients, is to provide a safe and supportive environment that encourages each individual to know themselves deeply, to identify and claim their gifts and strengths, and to empower them towards making the changes needed in order to live full, satisfying, and meaningful lives.
