My Approach to Helping
I graduated from Lewis University with a master of clinical mental health counseling, and from North Central College with a bachelor of psychology. In addition to my classes, I also completed a seminar on obesity and eating disorders, and workshops on treating child trauma and play therapy.
I help teens, adults, and children achieve their goals and manage their challenge in an accepting, safe therapeutic environment. I am experienced at working with teens, children, and young adults who have serious co-occurring disorders, and have worked in psychiatric residential treatment.
More Info About My Practice
I use several approaches, including dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), art therapy, trauma-focused therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, and person-centered psychotherapy. I use the approach that works best for each client, and lean heavily on evidence-based treatment. I approach therapy collaboratively, working with my clients to understand their needs and design a treatment plan that addresses those needs.
In addition to my work as a therapist, I enjoy time with my son and husband, playing with my dog, couch cuddles with my cat, camping, music, fishing, and painting.
