My Approach to Helping
I am a licensed professional counselor with close to a decade of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults on a variety of presenting concerns. I have experience supervising beginning and more seasoned counselors and currently work as adjunct faculty in UNC Charlotte's Masters Counseling Program. I am passionate about providing people with space to share their story, and I am always working to fine-tune my ability to fully hear and respond to that story. My ultimate goal as a counselor is to help people move toward insight, authenticity, and connectedness.
I have an eclectic approach to counseling, though my tendency is to understand clients through a psychodynamic lens. I am conscientious about privilege, power, and oppression, and the critical role these forces play for all of us. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based treatment modality for trauma.
If you think I may be able to help, feel free to reach out in whatever way is most comfortable for you.
