My Approach to Helping
Therapy is often the first of many steps one will take on the journey of balancing the stress and demands of life with the human drive for happiness and well-being. I am honored to be entrusted to walk some of this journey with you, and I hope you leave the therapy encounter with new skills, outlooks, and a new purpose. I live and practice the saying “The only way out is through” (Robert Frost) and use this perspective as a guiding light in my work.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor with the state of Illinois, and a nationally certified Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist. I consider myself an eclectic therapist as I base the type of therapy I use on the individual and the presenting problem. I am trained in motivational interviewing, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-FocusedNarrative Therapy, as well as Substance Use Disorder treatment. I have been in the mental health field for over a decade. I have spent the past six years in community mental health serving individuals with various presenting issues, including mood disorders, substance use disorders, PTSD, and impulse-related disorders.
I am proud of you for taking the first step on your path to better well-being and look forward to meeting you soon.
