My Approach to Helping

Are you looking for a therapist who takes the time to listen to you and your unique circumstances and who believes effective therapy involves both you and me actively working together? My approach to therapy is caring, engaging and honest; my method is personalized to your challenges and goals. I'm here to listen to you and to understand your problems and how you experience them. I want to form a safe trusting relationship with you, a mutual collaboration in which we will work together to identify your goals, explore appropriate strategies for resolution and define expectations for therapy.

I believe the most challenging times can also provide the ultimate opportunity for change and growth. With a better outlook and the appropriate support, demanding times in your life can serve as a transition to a stronger, healthier and more resilient you. I want to help you uncover undesirable patterns in your life and relationships and help you make a positive transformation in the way you live. We can work together to heighten self-acceptance, gain self-awareness, improve relationships and form a more gratifying life.

I'm an experienced therapist with 16 years experience. Areas of expertise include depression, self-esteem, mood issues, grief and loss, anxiety and fear, anger, family issues, abuse and relationship issues. In addition to working with individuals, I work extensively with couples. Often, difficulties that arise in relationships stem from past experiences and poor communication. Together, we will explore past wounds that activate intense feelings and emotions and develop relationship skills necessary to heal past hurts and to better manage difficult feelings by transforming problems in your relationship into opportunities for greater closeness, intimacy, and growth.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy, (CBT) Dialectical Behavior Therapy, (DBT) Mindfulness Focused Therapy, Solution Focused Behavioral Therapy, (SFBT) Motivational Interviewing, (MI) and Gottman Method Couples Therapy are the types of therapy I use most frequently. Whether you need individual or couples therapy, I encourage you to contact me. I'm dedicated to providing compassion, empathy, and respect. My office provides a confidential, discreet, soothing and nurturing environment for you to discover new strengths, abilities and perspectives that will assist with your existing challenges and whatever else life bestows.
