My Approach to Helping
I believe each person has the ability to create and change their life, at any age. My job is to help you find and navigate your own path to wellness while supporting you through the journey of healing and change. I bring over 30 years of experience to the relationship and using an integrated wholistic/wellness model I work with each client to create a treatment plan that is based on the their short and long-term needs. I stay current in new research on body and mind-based approaches and match the treatment approach to the clients resources, skills and preferences.
More Info About My Practice
I prefer private pay clients since we are not bound to follow any insurance treatment protocols. My hourly rate is $125/hour. If the client prefers to use their insurance, together we'll explore what impact that will have on their therapy in terms of the insurance companies treatment protocols and benefits. I offer Mindful Eating groups @ $45 for 1.5 hours, and MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction training groups individually and in 8-week groups.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
Mindful Eating, Trauma, and Stress Reduction all have a core of mindfulness or living a contemplative life. As my clients slow down and learn to enjoy their life by making healthy choices, they make room for their new goals. Any old wounds can be identified and healed so they can move forward on a clear path.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
When my clients discover how to grow and change, and actually do it, there is nothing better for both of us.
Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed
Actually the healthiest individuals are usually ones who either have, or are currently in therapy or counseling. Having a safe place to talk and sort out problems with an expert in the field, adds depth and happiness to your life.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
The most critical component of successful therapy is the relationship you have with your counselor or therapist. The relationship must be as healthy, open and creative as possible to make room for you and your changes.
