My Approach to Helping
I have worked primarily with children teens and young adults. Moving through high school, college, graduate school and beyond can be a difficult time encompassing many changes. I find I am most interested in the age group of 14 years and upward. I have experience working with a variety of issues including managing the stress of academics, anxiety, depression, and dealing with the shift from adolescence to adulthood. Many issues can arise during these years including eating disorders, questions of identity, experimentation with relationships, emerging depression and anxiety, questions about direction and career as well as financial concerns as the world is being newly navigated.
I have also lead groups for LGBTQ teens as they explore their identity. In my practice, I have used creative modalities as well as narrative therapy to start a dialog about my client's life and the important events that have defined their lives until now. I can provide a safe and introspective environment for exploring these events and addressing challenges. I work with clients to help them achieve a better self-understanding and clarity about goals, ambitions and life direction.
