How Psychotherapy Can Help
Why start therapy? Talking helps. Throughout our life spans we are constantly growing and facing new challenges. Having someone to talk to and who listens is an invaluable resource. Psychotherapy is a process through which a person, couple or family works with a trained analyst in a safe, dependable, and confidential environment. Together we will explore feelings, beliefs, behaviors, work through challenging or influential memories, better understand yourself and others, set personal goals, and work toward desired change and growth.
The Duration and Frequency of Therapy
Depending on your specific needs, psychotherapy can provide short-term relief, for a specific issue, or have longer-term objectives in order to deal with more difficult patterns or your desire for more personal development. Either way, it is most common to schedule regular weekly 50-minute sessions initially, and then adjust the frequency to your needs. Because each person has different issues and life goals, sessions will be different depending on the individual. I tailor my approach to your specific needs. In general, you can expect to discuss the current events happening in your life, your personal history relevant to your issue, and report progress (or any new insights gained) from the previous therapy session.
