My Approach to Helping
Lena Scie-Gibson, M.Ed. is a graduate of the University of New Orleans receiving a Bachelors in General Studies and a Masters in Education Counseling. I am a Licensed Professional Counseling (LPC). I have worked as a Family, Individual, Play, and Financial Therapist; Group facilitator for Substance Abuse, Group and Individual facilitator for Elementary, Middle, High, and Alternative Schools. I have served as a crisis counselor for survivors of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Gustav in Orleans, Jefferson, and Plaquemines Parishes. I have demonstrated leadership by being a Team Leader for Louisiana Spirit, a program developed by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) and the Office of Mental Health (OMH) funded by FEMA and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). I have completed training's in Motivational Enhancement, Crisis Counseling Helping Others Helping Ourselves, Crisis Counseling Program Engagement, Termination, Assessment, and Suicide Prevention.
