My Approach to Helping
My approach to psychotherapy is not limited to any one mode. I approach each client or couple with deep interest in their story and the emotions related to their experiences. Individuals who present with depression or anxiety may have completely different experiences in my therapy than another client with similar complaints. In other words, I use my knowledge and experience to address each client or couple as unique and worthy. The presenting problem, your life experiences, and your goals are specific to you and should be treated as such. Rapport and confidentiality are very important in our relationship.
More Info About My Practice
I see individuals and couples for 50 minute sessions. Each session is $110 per hour. I accept credit cards, cash, checks, and some insurances. Please contact the number on the back of your insurance card to ask if my name is on their provider list. I accept Medicare and Medicaid as a secondary insurance. I also accept CIGNA, United Healthcare, AETNA, TRICARE, and FEI; but please call your insurance company for verification.
My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
There is no doubt in my mind that the purpose of psychotherapy is to provide you with a confidential place to express yourself in a safe and non-judgmental environment. Having a therapist who is objective gives you freedom to say whatever you need to say and to know you have unconditional attention.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
Rapport between you, the client, and me as your therapist provides the best results. I like to establish rapport within the first session. If you do not feel the relationship will work well for you, then I encourage you to take time to think about whether or not you want to reschedule. In my personal experience, very, very few individuals or couples have decided we did not have a good relationship; however, it happens and I believe you should be free to search for the therapist who meets your expectations.
