My Approach to Helping
Being vulnerable with someone can be a challenging experience, especially because it is commonly seen as a sign of weakness. We can often be met with passivity in place of warmth when we are opening our deepest truths to others. However, vulnerability can also be seen as a strength because it shows that you have the courage to be your true, authentic self. By meeting with a mental health professional, it may provide the encouragement to move forward in one’s challenges in place of feeling stuck. Being with a mental health counselor aids people in experiencing the acceptance that may encourage the restorative strength in being vulnerable.
Lauryn Curtis ensures that giving her clients a safe environment where they can be accepted for who they are with no judgement is a place that facilitates growth. One of her core values is reflected in giving her clients the space they need to be heard and supported which can help them think beyond their inner critic and find their true voice. The importance of compassion and acceptance is also expressed when in a session with Lauryn. Lauryn ensures that the clients that she is meeting with are met with the unconditional positive regard to their challenges, the care and acknowledgement of the hurt that clients have been through while helping them overcome it and being genuine with feedback and interpretation of what is being discussed in session.
Lauryn’s theoretical focus is narrative, strength-based, multigenerational, and emotional focus therapy. Lauryn believes that her clients have the answers to work through their challenges within them, and that she is a source that her clients can utilize in order to help them reach the moment of self-assurance and find their solution. Lauryn’s theoretical focus is narrative, strength-based, multigenerational, and emotional focus therapy. She works with her clients to find new meaning to their story and learn that they are separate from their history and are exceptional individuals. Lauryn also works with her clients on finding emotional patterns that may have been passed down through generations in order to gain further awareness. With collaboration and acceptance, Lauryn works with her clients to explore their inner strengths, known and unknown, to help them recognize that they are worthy and can achieve anything they set their minds to!
During Lauryn’s free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, creating art, going on hikes along the front range, going on road trips across the country, paddleboarding in the summer and going to live concerts.
