My Approach to Helping
Thanks for your interest in my practice! Austin Family Wellness endeavors to offer
individuals effective, affordable, and compassionate care. If you face serious mental
health issues such as anxiety, bipolar, substance abuse, or addiction, Austin Family
Wellness can help you achieve personal growth.
If you're new to therapy, the process might seem like a confusing array of
"psychobabble." Maybe you're worried the therapist can read your mind or will try to
brainwash you. Psychotherapy is a process of self-discovery that is free of judgment.
At its best, therapy should alleviate painful feelings while offering hope for a better,
happier, more centered life free of shame and guilt.
In therapy with me, you'll learn about your feelings, moods, and thoughts, helping you gain
more insight into why you do the things you do. This process can help you learn
healthier new ways of coping, adopt better stress management skills, and improve the
ways you relate to others.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
My training and background is primarily in addictions and working with individuals that suffer with both substance abuse and mental health issues (dual diagnosis) and the effects of that on their lives, as well as the lives of the people they care about most. I also have extensive training in working with trauma, and experience working with those individual who have a history of incest and sexual abuse.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
I see you as the expert on your life and view therapy as a collaborative process, where you teach me what it is like to be you. We journey on a path together to define your treatment goals and explore the issues that are of concern to you. In a safe and supportive environment you share the events in your life and difficulties you may be having with feeling good; I make observations, provide education, and share my interpretations of your experiences to help elicit change.
