My Approach to Helping
I believe psychotherapy is truly a process, one which the therapist can help guide a client to make the adjustments needed for positive change. My approach can be integrative and collaborative. Once an initial assessment is made, I will utilize the best theories or techniques to best help you succeed. Often I can be solution and strength based in my focus in order to get things moving in the right direction. There can be a blend of cognitive behavioral as well as mindfulness based practices employed during our sessions. My aim is to treat the whole person, not just the symptoms.
It is very important to meet you where you are in your own process. This might mean starting at the very basic steps. Once you can better understand your needs, have a grasp on emotions and their affect on you as well as the importance of being in the here and now, you can recognize and change the patterns which may have gotten you stuck in the past.
I offer a safe and inviting therapeutic environment to help foster the change needed for longer term success. For the last 13 years, I have been working with clients and their families helping them to find the answers for positive growth and change. I continue to work with middle school, high school and college aged students as well as young adults and adults.
In addition to my therapy private practice, I also offer parent coaching for families specializing in transition from programs back home.
