My Approach to Helping

Life throws all of us many challenges, and sometimes the weight of it all can leave people feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or sorrowful. I truly believe that all of life's challenges can be opportunities for growth, no matter how big the problem. I work hard to listen and learn about each of my client's experience in their life so that they might find the way to more freedom and potential to thrive, even in the face of struggle. You are not alone in your troubles, and therapy can help.

My interest and passion for doing premarital counseling comes from my experience working with couples at many different stages of relationships. Taking the time to consider some of the transitions and challenges you will face as a married couple can be immensely stengthening to the relationship. I work with couples on their communication, provide insight and information based on current research, and always include celebration and humor as part of the sessions.

More Info About My Practice

I charge $80 for individual sessions and $100 for couples sessions. Each session is 50 minutes. I also offer 75 minute couples sessions for $150. At this time, I do not accept insurance. A sliding scale is available in some cases, please inquire.

Premarital counseling generally includes 4-5 meetings with me, but can be adjusted based on what you need and are looking for.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I love practicing Premarital and relationship counseling. Particularly in modern culture where so many marriages end and life feels constantly busy and connected by technology, many people find intimacy and healthy communication with their partner difficult. I believe that healthy communication between two people in a relationship requires both knowing yourself and your partner on a deeper level, a process that is always growing and changing. I work to help couples learn how to listen to themselves and their partner in ways that change the way they relate to each other and promotes growth, excitement, intimacy and fun in the relationship. Premarital counseling is a wonderful step to take on your journey as a married couple!

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

It takes a lot of courage to reach out for help when life gets challenging. Many people are concerned about what their therapist may think of them, or worry that therapy won't be able to help them- these are common and valid concerns. I work collaboratively with clients so we can best find what WILL work. I provide a warm and non-judgmental atmosphere to address problems; it does not matter how small or large it is. While I hope our time together is successful for you, it is not intended to last forever (another concern some people have). We will work to reach your goals in a time frame that makes sense for you and your concerns.
