My Approach to Helping

Looking for an authentic therapist that is able to meet you where you are and help walk you through the challenges? I realize that starting therapy can be overwhelming and strive to provide an open and safe environment. Effective therapy helps clients achieve emotional health and can be a powerful tool for change. I offer authentic, compassionate, and affordable therapy while utilizing solution-focused and evidence-based treatment methods. I use a collaborative approach, individualized to client needs, to empower and assist individuals in their journey towards healing and well-being.

I currently provide therapy for individuals, families, and adolescents. I specialize and have expertise working with Adoptees, foster youth, adoptive parents, pre and post adoption, and birth or first parents and families. I also have experience and training in trauma, abuse, crisis management, and attachment related issues.

Therapy is a collaborative experience between client and therapist. I believe in incorporating my clients in therapy and work from a client-focused model. I believe that a client is their own best expert and seek to empower individuals to lead their most authentic and full-filling life.

More Info About My Practice

Phone & Virtual Sessions:
I understand that traveling to and from a therapist's office can often be a hardship. Virtual appointments are available through an easy-to-use online platform. All virtual sessions are HIPAA compliant. I offer convenient appointment times between 10 am and 7 p.m., during the evenings and on Saturdays.

Individual Therapy:
Individual therapy is 50 minutes and is provided online via Telehealth or in-person at the Garland, Tx office. Therapy typically takes place once a week and is then adjusted with a client's progression and needs.

I provide therapy regarding loss & grief, life adjustment related issues, PTSD, abuse and neglect, family separation and childhood trauma, depression & anxiety, oppression, discrimination, adoption and foster care, domestic & international adoption, trans-racial adoption, infertility, search and reunion, and other related issues.

Adoptees - I work with adoptees and understand that Adoptees often feel ignored and unheard. My goal is to offer personal support through their individual journey and provide a safe environment for healing.

Adoptive Parent Coaching and Consultation:
I have worked extensively with adoptive parents and am able to help walk you through both the pre-adoptive process and provide services after adoption. Consultations and therapy for parents considering adoption or those post adoption.

Search and Reunion:
I provide therapy and consultation regarding search and reunion issues.

DNA discoveries:
Found family members, realizing a parent is not a biological parent, late adoptive discoveries. etc.

Birth or First Families (including Kinship):
Original parents including family members or relatives who are raising children. Birth or first parents are also affected by separation and adoption. I have experience and work with biological parents, Kinship and fictive kin families as well as grandparents raising grandchildren.

Abuse and Neglect:
Childhood abuse and neglect issues often create ongoing difficulties. Abuse and neglect is common in adoptive, foster, and original families. Trauma often follows people from childhood into adulthood. I acknowledge that not only can foster care be traumatic, but that separation from biological families is a traumatic experience. Abuse can include neglect, physical, emotional, sexual, and psychological factors, which can include witnessing abuse, domestic violence, having incarcerated parents or family members, exposure to addiction, spiritual trauma, abuse of identity, bullying, and mental illness.

I am an LMSW, supervised by Katy Perkins, LCSW-S with Kingsman Consulting, LLC.
