My Approach to Helping
I believe that everyone deserves to be heard. I realize that starting therapy can be overwhelming and believe in providing an open and safe environment. Effective therapy helps clients achieve emotional health and can be a powerful tool for change. I offer authentic, compassionate, and affordable therapy while utilizing solution-focused and evidence-based treatment methods. I use a collaborative approach, individualized to client needs, to empower and assist individuals in their journey towards healing and well-being.
I currently provide therapy for individuals, families, and adolescents. I have over 13 years of specialized expertise working with foster youth, foster parents, adoptive parents, birth or first parents, kinship, individuals and families in crisis, and various community organizations. I am a Licensed Master Social Worker and also have experience and training in trauma, abuse, crisis intervention, attachment, and substance abuse.
Therapy is a collaborative experience between client and therapist. I believe in incorporating my clients in therapy and work from a client-focused and systems-based model. I believe that a client is their own best expert and seek to empower individuals to lead their most authentic and full-filling life.

Birth or First Families
Original parents including family members or relatives who are raising children. Birth first parents are also affected by separation and adoption. I have experience and work with Kinship and fictive kin families as well as grandparents raising grandchildren.
Abuse and Neglect:
Childhood abuse and neglect issues often create ongoing difficulties. Abuse and neglect is common in adoptive, foster, and original families. Trauma often follows people from childhood into adulthood. I acknowledge that not only can foster care be traumatic, but that separation from biological families is a traumatic experience. Abuse can include neglect, physical, emotional, sexual, and psychological factors, which can include witnessing abuse, domestic violence, having incarcerated parents or family members, exposure to addiction, spiritual trauma, abuse of identity, bullying, and mental illness.
I am an LMSW, supervised by Katy Perkins, LCSW-S with Kingsman Consulting, LLC.
My Therapy Focus
My focus is on individuals experiencing difficulties related to family relationships. There are often feelings involved related to trauma, abandonment, abuse or neglect, desires to find information and identify, etc. Adoption can be positive and no one has the same story. However, adoption is also a loss. It is a separation of family and can have a myriad of complicated issues attached.
