My Approach to Helping
I use an integrative approach tailored to each patient to help you explore and get to know your true self. I feel that true healing occurs when we can function from a place of authenticity and congruence. Specifically, I draw from cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, and relational frameworks to help patients overcome life's difficulties, function more adaptively interpersonally, and thrive. My therapy dog, Lilly, helps to provide an atmosphere of acceptance and kindness that patients can carry outside the treatment room and into their daily lives to feel better about themselves and improve self-esteem. We work together to notice unhealthy thought patterns and gently and kindly replace them with healthier methods of thinking. I believe that therapy isn't about changing who you are, but rather helping you be the best version of yourself!
More Info About My Practice
I support Black Lives Matter, believe in love across the rainbow, and feel that no human is illegal. A proud liberal, I believe that we all deserve happiness regardless of ability level, and actively work to address biases and prejudice when they arise. I believe that judgment creates wounds and that toxic aspects of culture can deeply impact our wellbeing. I actively engage in my own therapy and believe that it's a vital part of my own growth process and self-care practice. I have coped with depression, anxiety, and chronic pain and therefore have a deep and personal understanding of the struggles inherent with mental health concerns. My Role as a Therapist
My role as your therapist is NOT to provide solutions or tell you how I think you should live your life. My role as your psychologist is instead to help illuminate your own life's path and walk it with you to aid you in finding contentment, peace, and joy.
