My Approach to Helping
It is my philosophy that all of us have the power to realize our own growth and happiness, either for ourselves or in our relationships. I encourage clients to access and allow these inner resources to emerge. I use the therapeutic relationship as a parallel for dysfunctional patterns outside the therapy setting. My hope is to provide a safe environment for clients to express their genuine selves, and serve as temporary support until clients can manage their lives independently.
I am an empathic but direct practitioner. I encourage reciprocal communication with clients' treatment teams. With permission, I communicate regularly with families, physicians, nutritionists, psychiatrists, school personnel, mediators, and alternative supports.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?
The foundation of therapeutic success is a strong client-therapist relationship. Be patient with the process of finding someone with whom you have a genuine connection. If the relationship isn't there, the ability to open up and do targeted work is limited. Also, discuss the negative therapy experience with the new person you see. That will decrease the likelihood that mistakes will happen again.
