My Approach to Helping
There is value in finding a therapist that is right for you! My commitment is that no matter where you are, where you came from, or where you?re headed, you can live a life filled with purpose, grace, and ease. My education includes a Bachelor's in Psychology from Purdue University, a Masters in Counseling from National Louis University, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. In the last 7 years as a behavioral health professional I have been very successful in making a long-lasting difference for those struggling with eating disorders, lack of direction in life, self-injury, behavioral disorders, legal issues, family conflict, and substance abuse.
Starting in our first session, we will determine your therapeutic needs and goals, and create a plan based on what would make our time together most helpful for you. I have created a space where people feel accepted, heard, and empowered. It is vital that we are checking in each week to make sure that your goals are being met and new goals are being created. Open and honest communication is essential! Overall wellness is the key to living a happy and fulfilling life; which comes from taking action in each session and taking action in your life.
As a therapist, I understand that people need different things at different times. I have worked with males and females from ages 8-65, and have learned that in order for therapy to be effective, there has to be flexibility and structure tailored to each individual. I am open to meeting in different settings and involving your friends and family if that would be impactful. Your commitment is just as important as mine to make sure that you are able to have freedom from your struggles and live the life you deserve.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?
I myself have had a negative experience with a therapist and I know how frustrating and upsetting it can be. Although therapists can be wonderful people, we are also human. Sometimes we don't mix well with other human beings, so it is always important to remember that even if you had a negative experience with one human being, does not mean that it will happen with the next.
Seeing a therapist can be an incredible experience, life changing, and for ever healing.
Please contact me if you are hesitant or nervous about seeing a therapist, I would love to have conversation with you over the phone to answer any questions.
The Duration and Frequency of Therapy
The duration and frequency of therapy is something I encourage you, the client, to talk about in the first session. As a therapist, I believe it is important that the you understand that the work of therapy is first in the hands of yourself. Individual, self healing comes from self motivation, my role as therapist is to provide guidance and self exportation so that you can find peace, happiness, and feel complete with yourself.
I am open to seeing a client 1-3 times a week depending on the individual needs. I also believe that the environment plays a role in a person's healing, so I am open to non-traditional therapy sessions. This could look like going into the community to work on life skills, phobias, fears, or communication skills.
