My Approach to Helping
As an experienced licensed professional counselor, with a MA in Community Counseling and Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy, it is my honor to assist you in exploring your core issues and moving toward a healthy, fulfilling life. The goal of our therapy sessions together, will be to help you develop the mental fortitude needed to lead a successful life and to empower you to experience a better quality of life and ultimately reach your hopes, dreams and self-potential. We will explore your feelings, your circumstances and your options. I will help you grow in your ability to confront what is right in front of you and navigate your present. Additionally, we will work on the skill of self-compassion, which will allow you to move more easily through difficult times in the future, as wells as become a more productive and happier person.
I use a variety of approaches to address the unique needs of my clients. Treatment plans typically utilize a foundation of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Family Systems, Gottman Method, Person-Centered then quickly move toward a tailored treatment plan and approach that include the tools to help sustain growth and are customized to meet your unique circumstances.
With couples, I utilize a family systems approach and practice the Gottman method. Utilizing his method, I assist couples and intimate partners in working through gridlocks to repair their relationship. I also work with those going through divorce or experiencing grief from previous relationship issues.
