My Approach to Helping

For over 25 years, I have been helping clients with anxiety, relationships, toxic workplace issues, and loss. I imagine you are here because you are struggling with something. I want to help.

I know what it's like to struggle with these issues, and to overcome them. I believe you can do it, too! Together, we can work on making healthy changes in the way you perceive and respond to life's challenges. I believe that we all have the answers, wisdom, and capacity to grow within us. My job is to help you access these resources and reach your potential.

Making new discoveries about yourself can lead to old patterns becoming new, healthier ways of relating to others and responding to difficulties. You can begin to feel stronger, more confident and optimistic! Your life can feel more authentic and fulfilling.

My Approach:

Generally, my main goals are to help you enhance your self-awareness, find optimal solutions, and improve your wellbeing and your relationships.

This involves:
- offering new perspectives
- asking insightful questions
- helping you build on your strengths
- demonstrating healthier coping skills, and
- helping you change any unhealthy patterns

I view therapy as a partnership: I will bring my expertise and compassion. I invite you to bring your understanding of yourself and your circumstances, a willingness to consider new ideas, and a desire to achieve your goals. Let's collaborate - let me help you find balance and wellbeing - emotionally, mentally and relationally.

Yes, sometimes, life can be very overwhelming, confusing and complicated. But, I am here to help.

I have spent my entire professional life as a therapist - and I'm so glad. It has been extremely rewarding to work with the many men, women and couples who have reached out for help, and I would love to help you, too.
Let's get started! Just give me a call and I will carefully listen to what you are going through. I will offer a new perspective, help you learn practical strategies for solving problems, develop new insights, and a sense of empowerment.

Let's set up your free office, phone or video call consultation. I love talking with potential new clients and I have a deep passion for helping others. I will take the time to answer all of your questions and explain how I can help you. Being a partner in your success would be both a privilege and a pleasure. I look forward to talking with you soon!

More Info About My Practice

All of us deeply want to love and be loved. We are hardwired for connection, and so our relationships can be a source of meaning, connection, and tremendous joy.

Unfortunately, so many of us struggle to fit in and find strong connections - friendships and romantic partnerships alike. So many of us feel lonely and disconnected. But, it doesn't have to be that way. I am here for you.

Relationships, whether romantic in nature or not, can be complex and challenging.

The key to success lays in gaining insight for yourself, understanding others, and discovering the dynamics that develop in relationships. You can learn to have confidence, use critical social skills, deal with conflict, and unlock your relational potential.

Has the spark gone out in your relationship?
Are you and your partner constantly arguing or fighting?
Do you feel unloved, resentful, or alone?

As a couples therapist, I pay special attention to helpful and unhelpful patterns in the relationship, and I provide a third-party perspective on what is going on. You will have the chance to make new discoveries about yourself and your partner, practice specific skills (in sessions and at home), and learn to create a loving, trusting, and healthy relationship.

Are you struggling with worry, fear or panic?
Is a negative view of your future keeping you from pursuing your dreams and reaching your potential?
Let me help!

Stress and anxiety are very common. Moderate amounts can actually be quite helpful, as anxiety can signal when we need to address a problem.

However, anxiety can sometimes become overwhelming, leaving you feeling paralyzed, fearful, worried, stuck, panicked or powerless. You don't have to live this way.

You can discover what's causing these symptoms, find the right solution and break free from the stress.
How can you overcome stress and anxiety?

Sometimes, it involves learning new skills such as:
- Relaxation techniques
- Journaling
- Breathing exercises
- Creating more balance
- Setting better boundaries
- Improving self-care
- Meditation

I also often help clients identify their thoughts and the way they are responding to them. This is helpful because then, we can start to challenge, re-frame and re-focus unproductive, fear-based thinking. As thoughts, and the way you respond to them change, anxiety can begin to fade away.

Whatever is causing your stress and anxiety, we can find the best approach to help you feel calm and able to manage your day to day life better. The discoveries I can help you make in therapy can create a foundation of security and a lasting ability to cope with life's difficulties in a healthy, confident and optimistic way!

Have you or someone close to you experienced the loss of a loved one?
Do you feel alone, stuck in dark and lonely place?
Are you wondering if you will ever feel better?

Loss is part of life, but grief and experiencing a loss affects everyone differently.

Whether you have lost a loved one, a romantic relationship, a job or a pet, it can feel overwhelming to deal with the emotions and thoughts that emerge. I know what it feels like, too.

I also know it does get better, and that having help along the way is definitely the best way through. If you are overwhelmed with sadness, having trouble moving forward with your life, feeling angry or guilty about something, or just feeling very alone, I am here for you.

You can adjust to this new reality, begin to feel more and more like yourself again, and move forward with your life.
We’ll have the chance to talk about what's helpful and unhelpful for you, find ways to ease the pain and, when you're ready, begin to look toward the future.

If you or a loved one is struggling with grief and loss, contact me today.
Recovering from a loss is a process. I'm glad you found me. You don't have to do this alone.

Your workplace should be safe and comfortable - a place to contribute, grow and thrive!

Is your workplace filled with drama and unpredictability?
Are you doubting yourself, wondering if it's really that bad?
Has the stress become overwhelming?
You don’t have to do this alone.

When your work environment is difficult, dysfunctional or abusive, your stress can skyrocket. And, of course, this type of stress affects one's mental and physical health. Nothing and no one thrives in a toxic environment.

Are you experiencing:
- fatigue
- headaches
- difficulty focusing
- worry, fear or panic
- low-self worth
- self-doubt
- trouble with eating or sleeping

Let me help you reclaim your strength and optimism!
An outside perspective can be very valuable. You can gain clarity and begin to understand your options. I have been through this myself – as an employee, as an employer, as a therapist for victims, a therapist for problematic managers and as a witness in legal matters.

I will walk alongside you, be your support, and help you regain a sense of independence.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

I understand. In fact, I know exactly how that feels. But, I encourage you to reach out and find someone you think will understand and do their best to help you. Just call and ask some questions, any questions. Find out how the therapist thinks he or she can help you. Ask about availability or fees. Just get started. Take that step and see what you find!!

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist
