My Approach to Helping
I am a licensed clinical social worker, with a psychotherapy practice located in the Poconos. This practice is here to provide therapy for those with attachment issues, trauma, abuse, neglect, PTSD, anxiety, adjustment disorders, and mood disorders, as well as any other issues. Our philosophy is to provide a level of consistency and continuity of care to all our clients through a therapeutic relationship that will provide a process for change, healing, and adaptation.
This supportive service will help clients to develop better copings skills to adapt to life situations. Families, adults, and children will be able to face the challenges through the implementation of resources that are provided through the counseling relationship. All treatment services will be tailored and individualize to meet the needs of the client's specific needs at that time.
We will use Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, empathy, trauma informed treatment, attachment theory, stress reduction, exploration of underlying trauma, exploring attachment patterns in the family, mindfulness, psycho education, skills teaching, exposure and desensitization, CBT, DBT, harm reduction strategies, and will be exploring other therapies and treatments as needed along with ongoing continuing education. We will help the client to develop a fluid narrative and integrate their trauma (event) into something that they experienced and survived; not as something that defines them.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
We all have had training in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (beginning and advanced level). Dyadic developmental therapy principally involves creating a "playful, accepting, curious, and empathic" environment in which the therapist attunes to the child's "subjective experiences" and reflects this back to the child by means of eye contact, facial expressions, gestures and movements, voice tone, timing and touch, "co-regulates" emotional affect and "co-constructs" an alternative autobiographical narrative with the child.
Kristen has a certificate from Rutgers in Children and Adolescent and Mental Health as well as a certificate in Trauma informed treatment through Drexel University. Kristen has training in DBT ( Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and Advanced Trauma treatment. In addition to those specific certificates Kristen has numerous others trainings in treatment, interventions and diagnoses.
My Role as a Therapist
Our Goal is to assist clients to take the events that happened to them and turn it into a narrative story which will become an experience that had, not something that defines them. In addition it is to help clients to work through the unresolved issues with attachment through understanding and empathy.
In addition the objective is to assist clients to address and process the issues that are impacting them now so that they can move past what has happened and incorporate it into their life and become successful.
