My Approach to Helping

Stop finding yourself back in familiar, repetitive, negative emotional states like anger, anxiety, or sadness. I work with clients who experience intense or painful emotions along with the relationship or behavior issues that often accompany them. I have unique training in Transactional Analysis and Redecision Therapy which I use to help clients get free of coping responses & compulsive behavior. I use Motivational Interviewing to assist clients to connect to their inner sources of motivation to grow & change. Learn how to move out of avoidance, over-compensation, or surrender -- stop coping and really thrive.
I specialize in emotion regulation & social effectiveness, helping clients stop getting their buttons pushed and build effective social support networks. I treat long-term, enduring problematic patterns like personality disorders. I treat couples and families and assist them to stop destructive patterns that damage their relationships.
I am a field instructor at NCSU where I train new therapists so if someone needs low-cost therapy, seeing student interns is an option. I hold individual and group sessions in the offices of charitable organizations in order to keep costs down for clients and to support these organizations.
