My Approach to Helping
The world changing quickly around us can have significant impact on our lives. Feelings of being stuck and anxiety are often difficult to navigate, such as finding time to process our feelings and repairing ruptures in our lives and relationships. I am curious about your world, how you experience it, how you are connected to it, and your desire to make positive change. My approach during our sessions to use active listening, with a focus on empathy and compassion without judgement. I find clients appreciate my willingness to ask direct questions, as well as my honesty and sense of humor in our sessions.
In individual counseling, we will collaborate to develop and refine goals that meet your values and needs. I want to work with you to identify and connect to your strengths, support systems, and give you tools to cope during difficult times. In couples counseling, my intention in the process is to help you both feel heard. I’ll watch and listen to communication patterns, sometimes slow things down, and then together we will take the time to explore the emotional cycles and work towards repairing ruptures in your relationship.
