My Approach to Helping

Helping you through life transitions is my passion. Changes may be consciously sought or they might be out of our control, but we must all decide how to respond to those changes in our lives. Please allow me to provide support, education, and care throughout those life challenges. I've been active in professional development, leadership, and community involvement for my entire career. Life is stressful and many times, we decide it's better to seek objective help outside our professional or personal circles. Privacy practices are respected and your preferences for help will always top our agenda, as we work together to create the life you desire. How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

Our life experiences help shape our attitudes and responses. Our travel, friends and family, and responses to changes all affect my perspective on my profession. I have survived heartaches, grief, raising children, and enjoy the challenges of a long term marriage. My compassion for others affects every client relationship, and our human condition bonds us, as we face life's challenges and puzzles together.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

Our counseling sessions are generally confidential, but I offer my clients a more detailed informational form about my privacy policies and practices.

Counseling encourages growth, self-examination, and emotional awareness. It can help you if you want to change your perceptions, behavior, and attitudes. There's no guarantee that counseling will offer you a “cure,” though. Counseling requires various time investments depending upon the issues you face.

Research has proven that psychotherapy can boost self-respect, improve communication skills in a variety of relationships, and increase productivity. The process can be an exciting and energizing one, but it may also be painful. The healing therapy offers can be highly enriching, empowering yo to face relationship conflicts and adopt new coping styles. I'll do everything in my power to ensure you have a positive counseling experience.

If appropriate, I may refer you to additional services, such as a physical exam with a physician, a medication evaluation, or work with another therapist or through a support group. We can discuss these options during your session.

If I can't offer you the care you need or you would like to talk with another counselor, I'm happy to refer you to someone who can assist you. You can reach me 24 hours a day via phone and voicemail. I typically see clients Monday through Thursday.
