My Approach to Helping
Therapy can be life changing, whether healing from trauma, improving yourself, or enhancing your communication with your partner. My job as a therapist is to help facilitate your goals. I work with you on gaining insight and understanding of the presenting problem and providing you techniques to reach your goals.
I see a variety of individuals/families with presenting issues, including relationship issues, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, self-esteem, etc. I have extensive experience working with military families, posttraumatic stress disorder/trauma, veterans, sex therapy related issues, couples, and adolescents.
I attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and graduated with my Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am currently registered as a state intern in Nevada. Along with my private practice, I am a part-time lecturer at UNLV teaching Contemporary Marriages and Families. My research in trauma, military families, and sex therapy has been published in international journals.
I am fully trained in EMDR, a respectable and widely used trauma therapy. EMDR is also successful in treating panic disorders, chronic pain, and anxiety. I also have extensive training in the treatment of insomnia.
