My Approach to Helping

No one should have to suffer in isolation. You do not have to be alone when navigating difficult experiences in the present or processing distressing experiences from the past. I invite you to a non-judgmental, supportive and trauma-informed space to explore the root causes of your distress.

I specialize in working with adolescents and adults experiencing mood disorders, substance use, trauma, psychosis, co-occurring disorders and criminal legal involvement. My background is in providing advocacy and psychotherapy to individuals experiencing both mental health and substance use issues and who have frequent movement across the behavioral health care, housing and criminal legal systems. I ground my work in an anti-oppressive social justice framework that honors the ways in which oppressive systems impact mental health and relationships.

I utilize various interventions, most commonly narrative, psychoanalytic theory, motivational interviewing, harm reduction and mindfulness techniques. Together we will examine what coping skills have and have not worked for you in the past, build upon your innate strengths and incorporate new skills that offer relief. Throughout this entire process, I will be alongside you offering empathy, support and hopefully some humor as we examine pain, patterns and potential.
