My Approach to Helping

Our approach to therapy is genuine, supportive, and solution-focused. Our style of therapy integrates a lot of teaching into therapy, in a manner that builds on the strengths you already have. Our aim is to to help you define your goals and accomplish them in a manner that improves your quality of life and decreases suffering. We are the only DBT-Linehan Board of Certification Certified DBT Programs in IL or the state-line area where you can receive "real" DBT and use your health insurance.

More Info About My Practice

Most of us learned ways to manage challenges that worked at one time. Often, life then presents new challenges or new settings in which our old tools don't work as well as we want.
Transformation Behavioral Health is a group practice that specializes in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and has Linehan Board of Certification, Certified Programs. We have been offering a comprehensive DBT program since 2006. Our programs and services focus on teaching more effective ways to handle challenges. DBT involves being Mindful in the moment, monitoring thoughts that contribute to negative moods, and learning different ways to respond to people and situations that lead to feeling more in control and balanced. DBT teaches us to tolerate and manage our emotions, and express them in ways that our more likely to improve relationships. We treat symptoms of mood swings, depression, anxiety, self harm, suicidal thoughts, grief and loss, relationship conflict, life transitions, attention-deficits, addictions, trauma, and more. We have specialized experience in treatment for veterans and first responders. We have been helping people effectively navigate crises for decades and are well-prepared to help you cope with unexpected changes in your life.

We are in-network with most major insurance plans. Since plans change monthly and with no notice to us, please call your insurance to find out if Transformation Behavioral Health is in-network with your type of insurance and plan. We are not set up to accept Medicaid. Call Whitney (815.575.9675) to schedule an appointment with any of the clinicians at Transformation Behavioral Health.

How Psychotherapy Can Help

Therapy helps people to come to peace with difficult andor heartbreaking life situations that cannot be changed. It can help you to put your life in balance and feel content. Please visit our website for much more information about us and our services.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

Most people have heard about psychotherapy and likely also have heard jokes and seen media clips of negative portrayals of therapy that are most likely inaccurate. Therapy that works is a collaborative relationship in which you will set goals for yourself and work to achieve these. Much of therapy is about learning options that you didn't have a chance to learn before. It can be a lot of work. You are in control of how much work you want to do, and how quickly. The clinicians at Transformation make a commitment to be there to guide and support you on your journey.
