My Approach to Helping
I am a well rounded therapist who utilizes therapeutic techniques to help you build emotional muscles that allow you to grow, build resiliency, and heal past wounds and strengthen relationships. I utilize CBT, DBT, Internal Family systems, somatic therapy, trauma informed stabilization treatment and expressive therapies in order to increase mindfulness around your thoughts, feelings and sensations and how they are impacting you in the roles you play in your life and the behaviors that you engage in. Behaviors of particular focus for me are eating disorders, self harm, suicidal ideation, substance use. I also will provide psycho-education around how these behaviors are defenses connected to patterns of attachment and childhood.
Together we will then build skills around these wounds to decrease the need for these defenses and strengthen relationships, build confidence in yourself, increase compassion creativity and overall connectedness to yourself and others.
These techniques will allow for the emotional muscles needed to heal wounds and create resiliency and growth in all areas of your life. I am unique in that I am a trauma certified therapist who has specialization in eating disorders as well as disorders connected to trauma including but not limited to anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, dissociative disorders, and substance abuse disorders.
