My Approach to Helping

Change is not easy; however, often provides meaningful growth opportunities to help you reach your fullest potential. Utilizing a collaborative and strength-based approach to therapy, I am able to provide short-term therapy utilizing a CBT, Exposure Therapy or Solution Focused Therapy approach or longer-term therapy for more complex issues and continued support. I strive to provide a safe, consistent and authentic relationship to provide support, new skills, and guidance through the change process.

I specialize in helping individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, grief & loss (through death and non-death related losses), adoption, problematic eating, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Combining evidence-based treatments with a creative approach and utilizing my sense of humor, I help adolescents, adults, and families, gain access to their emotions and improve insight into their behaviors to assist in the change process.

I am also trained in Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) aka Tapping. EFT is an “evidence-based” mind and body practice for anxiety, depression, phobias, chronic pain, and PTSD.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

It is normal to feel ambivalent or fearful of reengaging in the therapy process after encountering a therapy experience that was problematic, traumatic or resulted in abandonment or loss. I encourage you to give it another try. We will explore what was helpful and unhelpful in your prior therapy as well as expectations that went unmet to be sure that we do not repeat those patterns or errors in your current therapy. If your prior therapy experience is a barrier to engaging in your current therapy process, perhaps that is the place to start so that we can focus on building a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship to help you meet your identified goals.
