My Approach to Helping
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who graduated with an MA in Professional Counseling from Amberton University in 2013. Since that time, I have continued to study and develop my counseling skills. I have advanced training or certifications in trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, Animal Assisted Therapy (from UNT), Foundational Theraplay Practitioner, Post-adoption counseling, EMDR, Prepare and Enrich pre-marital counseling, and Gottman marriage principles. I proudly serve clients of all ages from 4 years old and over.
For several years, I served as a contract counselor and group facilitator at Christian Works for multiple programs including Kid Works (divorce support), Grief Works, Adoption Works (post-adoption support groups), and Becoming Mom (counseling for pregnant women or those with children under 3 years of age).
I have a heart for serving children, individuals and families who have been formed through the foster system andor adoption. I seek to foster stronger attachment, heal past traumas and equip parents with tools to strengthen their families.
I have been given the opportunity to serve many children, adolescents and adults who have been plagued with stress and anxiety. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, psychoeducation, play therapy, neurobiological tools and other modalities, I equip my clients to manage the stressors in their lives and find new purpose in their lives.
As a human resources professional of more than 25 years, I am also uniquely equipped to assist you with career counseling, assessments and career interest inventories.
