My Approach to Helping
I am a collaborative therapist who creates an affirming space for clients. Clients will harness power from within to thrive in their everyday lives and communities.
There are many ways to take care of yourself: eating healthy, regular exercise, reducing stress, etc. Therapy can be a useful tool to add to your practices. You may examine what is and is not working to stay well through the many transitions of life.
In our first session, you can expect to set goals and how we can get there together. For some, that is short-term work on a specific point of anxiety or depression. For others, it's about unpacking past experiences to gain clarity about what you want your life to look like. We'll decide together what works, and keep checking in to ensure therapy is aligned with your needs.
My work with children and adolescents takes a similar pathway. I work closely with caregivers to support young people's experiences in school and at home; Caregiver involvement is valuable for creating sustainable change.
One of my favorite quotes is "You don't have to be great at the start, but you have to start to be great". There may never be the perfect time to start therapy, but therapy can be the first step to important life changes.
