My Approach to Helping
Do you often feel that life is very tired and hopeless and worthless? These painful thoughts may come from childhood traumas such as domestic violence, sexual assault, emotional neglect, etc. Traumatic experiences are like being punched in the chest; you had recovered after a few days. You don't feel the pain anymore, but the feelings of humiliation, fear, and anger will not pass easily. They can hide in your body, trap your energy, and turn those unreleased emotions into depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bulimia, and may cause physical pain such as shoulder pain, back pain. Telling the story, you become aware of how the past traumatic experiences had affected you, and you can make sense of it, release your emotions and heal your mind and body.
As a therapist, I will accompany you to talk about and explore life stories. In this process, you will discover unconscious issues that are the sources of suffering. By making it conscious, you will have a different perspective view about life and be able to make a better choice. I respect client progress without expecting the client to change as I believe change will occur once the pain has been seen and the real story has been discovered.
More Info About My Practice
I am a licensed professional counselor with a Master's degree in counseling and a registered pharmacist. Many people are wondering what made me decide to change my career. It all started when I went through an intense and stressful pharmacy internship program. Those stressful experiences resulted in my interest in mental health, and since then, I have read books related to the topic and have attended several courses. This had made me realize mental health has a big impact on life quality, and also health and wellness.
I believe it is important for therapists to continue to be aware, reflect, and work on their issues so that they can provide a healthy environment, and have a healthy relationship with their clients. Currently, I have regular therapy sessions with Jungian psychoanalysts, that have been taking place for many years. Since my analysis has been with a Jungian therapist, my therapy approach for my clients will be influenced by Jungian work; which includes dreams, unconscious, and individualization. I am very passionate about inner healing and unconscious work results, I strive to expand my knowledge by attending the Jungian Dream Analysis course.
Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed
Many people think that being in counselling, means you have very serious mental issue, or you are weak. In counselling, it does not necessarily mean that you have serious problem in your life. For you, you may just want to explore your life, have deeper understanding of self, or want to connect with self-better. Instead of living the life of an autopilot mode, you want to make a conscious decision. A conscious decision is important to help you to make decisions that is aligned with life's purpose.
