My Approach to Helping

Kayla Kalousdian is a mental health counselor who is passionate about working with individuals in assisting them in overcoming challenging situation in their current lives. Kayla has experience in providing both individual and group counseling. Kayla utilizes different therapeutic approaches such as CBT, person-centered therapy, solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing to meet the individual where they are at. Kayla finds it important for individuals to feel comfortable during their therapeutic process and to build upon their self-esteem.



Kayla has an extensive background working with individuals who have developmental disabilities, individuals with substance abuse and mental health issues, and also sex offenders. Kayla emphasizes patience and support to help individuals struggling to put words to their life stressors. Through meeting the client where they are at, Kayla utilizes strategies to help individuals better navigate through their lives.



Kayla is eager to continue to engage in working with individuals who are eager to continue to work upon themselves. Kayla has a history of advocating for individuals and utilizes her compassion to assist individual in improving upon the person they are. Kayla\'s goal as a therapist is to support and guide individuals to become the person they want to become. Kayla has worked with individuals suffering from anxiety, depression, panic attacks, personality disorders, trauma, grief, domestic violence, substance use, developmental disabilities and criminal history.



Kayla earned her Masters in Mental Health Counselor at Long Island University in 2018 and earned her Bachelors Degree from St. Joseph\'s College for Criminal Justice and Psychology in 2016.
