My Approach to Helping
Perhaps you're feeling worn down due to constant dread and anxiety, drinking or smoking too often, questions about your gender or sexual identity, trouble in your relationships, or just a lack of confidence and self-esteem. I’m here to help! I help my clients achieve their personal, creative and relationship goals to live a fulfilling, authentic and enriching life.
Along with anxiety, substance use, identity concerns, relationships and self-esteem, I’m also experienced in helping develop communication and boundary-setting skills, and guiding couples as they work through conflict, transitions or exploring non monogamy or polyamory.
My approach to counseling is collaborative, accepting and warm. I draw on a variety of therapeutic modalities and techniques, with an emphasis on helping you tune in to your own wisdom to build confidence in your instincts, intuition and ability to thrive. I’m a Health at Every Size (HAES) practitioner, sex and sex worker positive, and affirming of all gender identities and exploration.
Before pursuing my career as a therapist, I worked in arts and social justice non-profits in Chicago. I believe my passion for the arts and social equity informs my therapeutic work, as I strive to make the therapy room a creative, collaborative and empowering space for my clients to explore everything inside of them with curiosity and non-judgement.
I hold arts and humanities Bachelor degrees from the University of Texas at Austin, and I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago. In Chicago, I worked in outpatient substance use treatment where I provided meditation training, trauma-informed yoga, individual and couples’ counseling to help those in recovery from drug and alcohol disorders.
