My Approach to Helping
Do you feel stressed, overwhelmed, and ready for change? We might be good fit if you want to understand why you feel miserable or anxious despite "doing it all". Maybe you are compassionate to everyone in your life, except YOU. Other symptoms my clients often report are recurring negative patterns in their life, anxiety, depression, anger, overwhelm, relationship issues, problematic family dynamics, trouble getting new habits to stick, compulsively using external things to feel better (i.e. work, people, alcohol), pain, headaches, and more.
My style of therapy is supportive, empathetic, and authentic. Everyone is different, so the way I do therapy is flexible. I am in EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory, and DBT. Through a mix of talk therapy and body centered approaches, we will explore sources of trauma and healing.
Working with me, you will work to:
Understand and break negative patterns
Develop self-confidence
Reduce anxiety, depression, people-pleasing, and stress
Heal unresolved trauma
Improve your sense of self and your relationships
Move toward Post-traumatic growth
I am available to see clients virtually in Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania. Whether you're new to therapy or seeking a fresh approach, I provide a non-judgmental space for your healing journey. Reach out today to schedule a FREE consultation to ensure we're a great fit.
More Info About My Practice
Working with me you’ll experience a collaborative, safe, and exploratory environment and an integrated therapeutic approach that goes beyond just talk therapy. I draw on IFS (internal family systems), EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) theory, psychodynamic theory, and DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) principles.
I work my clients to identify their emotional states, recognize internal responses to stressors, better respond to current needs, and establish connections between unresolved conflicts and present issues. I also recognize the significance of the mind-body connection and incorporates this into my therapeutic approach.
I offer a limited number of slots available for extended EMDR sessions. These are great for someone looking to do EMDR-intensive sessions who can’t get away for an extended time. My extended sessions are typically 90 to 120-minutes and can be done multiple times a week, weekly, or biweekly.
I also offer mental health evaluations for federal job positions that require a formal psychological evaluation be completed as a hiring requirement such as Peace Corps.
I work under the supervision of Morgan Levine, LCSW-C and benefit from ongoing consultation with the IFS EMDR Therapy group clinical team as well as an EMDRIA Consultant. In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, and spoiling my anxious dog.
