My Approach to Helping
My professional experience as a Medical Social Worker and Marriage Family Therapist; along with my personal experiences of loss and life transitions has improved my understanding of human experiences in adverse environments. The success of my clients, patients, and couples/families is reflected in my ability to think outside the box, be supportive when it comes to change and new ways of thinking, exploration of self-awareness, and the steps both I and the individual take together. Along with being a therapist, and medical social worker, I also have experience with domestic violence, posttraumatic stress (PTSD), anxiety, depression, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), seeking safety, severe psychiatric disabilities, integrating somatic psychotherapy with eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), attachment, art, and trauma based therapy. I am well versed in end of life and the planning that comes with it, such as, physician orders for life sustaining treatment (POLST), letters of closure, eulogies, advanced directives, and Simple Wills (California). I am trained in prolonged grief therapy and currently finishing up training in multidisciplinary pediatric palliative care training.
