My Approach to Helping
I practice person-centered therapy, and specialize in trauma, depression, anxiety, military and veterans issues, and life transitions. I have a background and training in evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), though I use an eclectic and collaborative approach that builds upon a strong therapeutic relationship. I see you as the expert on your own life, and use therapy to build upon your innate insight and knowledge.
I am passionate about working with trauma survivors. The effects of trauma are long-lasting, and can make daily life feel very difficult. I believe it is possible to cope with these effects in a healthy way that does not get in the way of achieving your goals or living out your values. I aim to help survivors feel safe, gain new skills, and find healthy meaning in their experiences.
I was raised in a military family. I moved every few years, and have a keen understanding of veteran and military issues, as well as the challenges of life transitions. I am solution-focused, and excited to help you achieve your goals.
