My Approach to Helping
My goal in therapy is to meet clients where they are and to tailor the therapy experience to meet their needs and goals. The aim of therapy for me is to help remove constraints clients have in the past or are currently experiencing that prevent them from living their best most rewarding, healthy, or balanced life in their relationship with themselves, their partner, family or friends. I believe the relationship between the client and the therapist needs to be built on trust and a safe space and I work to cultivate this in each session and therapeutic alliance. In addressing clients reasons for entering therapy this translates to my usage of an integrative approach focused on staying problem centered and change motivated. I believe in a straight-forward and transparent therapy with the aim of empowering clients to create lasting and impacting change in their lives.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
Additionally, I work holistically to help clients connect their mind to their body often utilizing a yogic perspective that draws from my experience as a 200-hr experienced registered yoga teacher. I have found in my own life and clinical practice that re-connecting the mind to the body can create and deepen relationships in ones life, whether that is with themselves or others. I hope to bring a non-judgmental and rooted energy into sessions and utilize my yoga journey to help implement this with clients.
My Role as a Therapist
I consider it an honor to sit with clients at all stages of their journey through life and believes in the power of systemic therapy. I believe that clients are part of a system and my goal is to help them examine and create change in their lives through a better understanding of their place and journey within their relationships. Whether it is an intimate partner relationship, familial relationship, or an individual's relationship with the outside world, I will meet clients where they are and work collaboratively to help and support clients create change in their lives.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
I believe the therapist and client relationship is of the utmost importance in my work as a Marriage and Family Therapist and I work to create an environment that is supportive and safe while helping clients move forward in their lives. I cultivate open communication of expectations and results in therapy and continually encourage clients to share their feelings of progress in therapy. Through honest and open feedback we can continue to deepen our alliance and therefore create progress and change in lives.
