My Approach to Helping
I am a mental health counselor with experience in working with a wide range of populations, from children to incarcerated adult men to young parents learning to work with their new role to at-risk teenagers. I completed my master's degree in Mental Health Counseling in 2013 and since then have helped people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, major life changes, parenting problems, ADHD, relationship difficulties, and specialize in working with those who have been affected by trauma. My clinical approach primarily employs tenets of CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy, but is tailored to meet the needs of each individual client.
As a clinician, I am skilled at meeting clients where they are at and tailoring the therapeutic goals to the needs of each individual client. I believe that the most effective therapy is guided by the primary needs of the client and utilizes the client's natural strengths and interests in order to make progress. My therapeutic approach is holistic: I believe in the importance of considering the mind-body connection and frequently explore that with clients who are willing. My approach is friendly, warm, respectful, and nonjudgmental; my sense of humor helps clients to feel at ease. I strive to make each client feel as though they are in a safe place throughout the course of our conversation.
Seeking help takes courage; asking for help is not an easy thing for everyone. I am here to provide support, insight, and to empower you to meet your goals and achieve your greatest potential. There is no challenge too small and no goal too big!
