My Approach to Helping
Often clients will present in my office stating that they are weak or unequipped to solve their own issues, but I highly disagree. In using a solution-focused approach, I strive to empower clients and help you to see your own resiliency; YOU are much stronger than you know! Although I greatly focus on the present and future in session, I am also interested in knowing what you have tried in the past and hearing about the exceptions to your problems. I aim to cultivate a non-judgmental, accepting environment where you feel safe sharing your deepest thoughts and emotional experiences.
I enjoy and am specifically trained to work with individual and relational sexual concerns; as I am a Certified Sex Therapist through the Texas Sex Therapy Institute. I understand that an active sex life is incredibly important for most individuals, especially those in any kind of relationship. I also know how difficult it can be to reach out for help, especially when sexual issues arise - I strive to help you and your partner enhance intimacy, increase sexual communication, address emotional difficulties related to sexual intimacy (such as past trauma or infidelities within a relationship), and address sexual dysfunctions that might have arisen. I use a talk-based form of therapy which aims to help better understand and cultivate the type of sex life you wish to have with your partner.
In addition to working with couples and adults, I am also passionate about working with families and adolescents. I enjoy providing a safe, therapeutic place where adolescents can share their thoughts and work through becoming individuals. I am also a proponent of family therapy to help strengthen communication and show other perspectives within the family.
I also have extensive experience in Psychoeducational, ADHD, Psychological, and Autism Spectrum Disorder Evaluations. My focus is to fully understand a person's strengths while identifying growth areas to strengthen through intervention. I believe through comprehensive evaluations, a person can receive the accommodations, interventions, and support they need.
I enjoy working with everyone: monogamous, polyamorous, kink-identified and LGBTQIA+. If you find that you are struggling with asking for what you want and need in life, in your relationships and within yourself, the work we can do can help you grow and achieve your next level of happiness.
