My Approach to Helping
My name is Katherine Hartdegen; however, I go by “Kasey" and I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Registered Play Therapist. My expertise is in supporting the emotional well being of children and their families. I can help if your child is experiencing: tantrums, grief and loss, adjusting to divorce and remarriage, family conflict, anxiety, depression, difficulty in school, and struggling with social skills. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most iomportant thing and want to connect with you and your child. I work closely with parents to ensure their child is progressing and develops the self-esteem to overcome life's challenges. Please call for a free 15-minute consultation to see if I'm a good fit for your family.
More Info About My Practice
As a Registered Play Therapist my office is decked out with toys, games, books, puppets and arts supplies. I will work with both you and your child to develop goals for treatment and consult regularly with you to ensure we are on track. During therapy I allow the child to lead the session to explore their emotions and past experiences. In my years of studies I have learned numerous interventions to make therapy engaging and fulfilling for children and their families.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
My goal as your child's therapist is to help them develop skills to regulate their emotions and improve their behavior. In play therapy with me I will help your child identify healthy ways to express their emotions as well as ways to manage uncomfortable feelings. I believe our emotions and behavior are connected and in therapy with me your child will learn how to become the boss of their feelings.
What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
I love that as your child's therapist I am a part of your family and will help while you and your child become confident in your abilities to overcome the challenegs you are facing. As the proverb goes "It takes a village to raise a child" and I would love to be a part of your village. Children don't come with a manuel and sometimes a little extra support is all we need to get through a rough patch.
