My Approach to Helping
“Do you find yourself acting ineffectively based on your emotion? Do you experience more unhelpful than positive emotions? Do you find it difficult to control your emotions and impulses? Are you having a difficult time accepting or coping with a life problem?
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania with over 14 years of experience working in mental health, and I am a Dialectical-Behavior-Therapy-trained therapist. My counseling style is interactive and collaborative, and in addition to processing your agenda items, I often focus on incorporating mindfulness, problem-solving techniques, and skill-building to manage unwanted emotions and replace problematic behaviors with more helpful choices and skills. My general goal of incorporating skills-training into our sessions, when needed, is to learn how to change your own behaviors, emotions, and thoughts that are linked to problems that are causing distress. In addition to individual therapy, I also have a background that includes training in mindfulness, obtaining my license in art education, and implementing group therapy, so I pride myself on the variety and creativity of interventions during sessions to achieve your goals.
I believe in treating all with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I will tailor our sessions and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. It takes courage seeking help to build your “life worth living,” and I look forward to being on this journey alongside you.
