My Approach to Helping
Sometimes the parts of us that are open, curious and authentic can feel stifled or closed off by life stressors and pain. As a result, we develop thoughts, behaviors and emotional patterns that cause us to resist or avoid our true self and prevent us from moving through the world with harmony and ease. By doing so, we end up experiencing feelings of loneliness, sadness, anxiety and stress, ultimately limiting us in our lives, careers and relationships. Therapy seeks to uncover our richer stories and truths, thereby allowing us to act from a place of trust and intuition, which ultimately enhances the meaningfulness of our lives.
I use a collaborative, relational and active approach. Throughout the course of therapy, my goal is to help support and guide you away from feelings of limitation (distress, overwhelm) towards feelings of freedom (self-awareness, self-compassion). While we will remain curious about how the past informs the present, we will also work to let go of unhelpful narratives, become more conscious, compassionate and accepting of the present self, and work towards a feeling of connection and empowerment. I am hopeful that through this process, you can begin to cultivate a greater sense of intimacy both within yourself and with others, that will reopen and enlighten the journey that life holds for you. Together, we can uncover the path you are meant to be on.
I believe the therapeutic relationship to be a sacred tool towards understanding how we relate to others and the world around us. I am hopeful that through this knowledge, you can begin to cultivate a greater intimacy and kindness within yourself, leaving old patterns behind in order to more deeply connect in life and in relationships.
