My Approach to Helping
I have been recovered from Anorexia Nervosa for over 20 years and have been specializing in the prevention and treatment of eating disorders since 2005. As a specially trained eating disorder therapist, I help clients navigate through the more complex issues that are being covered up by the adaptive functioning of the eating disorder behaviors.
I am committed to supporting clients and their family members through their battle and believe that full recovery is attainable with insight, awareness, strength, support, and courage.
I have played an integral role in running facilities ranging from intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization to residential treatment programs and have a deep understanding of the ongoing challenges of working with treatment facilities and insurance companies.
I am a member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP), National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), Multi-Service Eating Disorder Association (MEDA), and was a board member of the Association of Professionals Treating Eating Disorders (APTED) when I resided in San Francisco. I obtained my master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies.
I have been invited to speak at numerous colleges, universities, high schools and middle schools. My therapy services include implementing a Humanistic and Relational model while incorporating CBT, DBT, and values work into my private practice.
