My Approach to Helping

Recall when you first decided to jump off of a diving board? Jumping off of the diving board is a good metaphor for addressing anxiety. For many children who I work with, my job is to recruit them to make a decision to safely jump into the "pool" of life.

You may recall the loss of a pet. Sadness is natural in such a situation. Grief is like the experience is re-discovering a precious stone. Sometimes I help children to process losses, come to grips with the existential realities of life, and to remember their precious life experiences.

As a Psychologist, I use assessment tools, clinical interviews, observation, and clinical judgement to conceptualize the problem, then carefully formulate a treatment plan. While I take a matter of fact and down to earth approach, I am basing my decisions on a careful analysis of the issues at hand.

More Info About My Practice

Parent education, consultation, and live coaching are often integrated into the care of the child or teen. Parents typically report that the parent education provided to supplement the child's care is extremely valuable and often has an effect on their parenting behavior and, as a result, their child's presentation.
